2008 Wyoming AAUW State Convention
"BOLDLY FACING INEQUALITY"
CHEYENNE, WYOMING
APRIL 25-27, 2008

From:  Nancy Shore

The Cheyenne branch has been making the most of our four members -- we've all been busy with convention planning and are looking forward to seeing all of you in April!  We have sent a packet of information to the branch presidents, and they will be sharing that with you soon.

We will start off convention weekend with "Soup and Stuff" held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.  The church is conveniently located downtown at the corner of East 19th Street and House Avenue.  The fellowship room is downstairs, and there is an elevator for our convenience.  The Friday evening meal will be hosted by the Cheyenne and Wheatland branches.

The meetings on Saturday and Sunday will be held at Laramie County Community College's (LCCC) Center for Conferences & Institutes (CCI) Room 143, which is also Pauline Phillips' classroom.  We will have signs to direct you to the meeting room.

Breakfast on both days and Saturday's lunch will be prepared by the college's catering service.  On Saturday we will enjoy a Continental-style buffet with assorted pastries and fresh fruit, juices and coffee.  For Sunday's breakfast, we will have our choice of mini quiches, assorted pastries, juice and coffee.  Lunch on Saturday will be a Deli buffet, with chips and fresh fruit.  We have it on good authority that all their meals are delicious!

For a change of pace and location, Saturday evening's banquet will be held at Poor Richard's Restaurant, and will feature your choice of entree (with "appropriate" starch), served with a plated salad, plated dessert and a non-alcoholic beverage.

The Cheyenne branch is holding a raffle to benefit the Educational Foundation this year.  Nancy Shore has donated a handmade lariat rope basket, and the Cheyenne branch members have filled it with assorted items from the Cheyenne area.  Come support EF and maybe take home a goodie basket!

We have listed four motels that quoted us a rate for convention.  Mention "AAUW" when you book your room -- and let us know if you don't get the quoted rate.  The Plains quoted the lowest rate, but keep in mind that their parking is off-site, as they are a downtown hotel.  And of course there are other hotels in town, too.
