Prison System. She found that women could do quite well when taking classes in the controlled environment of prison but when they were released they could not make the transition to the academic environment of the real world. She founded a nonprofit organization called “College and Community Fellowship” which helps to raise funds, identify needs, and knock down the barriers that keeps women from succeeding. They have had tremendous success with women achieving masters’ degrees and one PHD. The program incorporates mentoring, study skills, and support groups.
